Corvaglia has been appointed as finalist at the Beverage Innovation Awards by FoodBev Media Ltd.
This prestigious appointment in the "Best New Closure" category, recognizes Corvaglia's innovative approach towards performance and waste reduction. With the CSN-26 Still Water BTL Short Neck Cap Corvaglia has developed an optimized still water neck finish/cap concept.
“We are very proud to have reached the group of finalists in this category
of the Beverage Innovation Awards,” said Corvaglia's Managing Director Romeo Corvaglia. “It acknowledges our efforts to create a break-through resource saving solution for still water bottles. The new cap weighs 0.95 grams, compared with the 1.60 grams of the original cap. The bottle neck finish could be reduced from 3.15 grams to 1.75 grams. With an annual volume of over 1 billion bottles and closures this light weighting exercise results in a saving of over 2,000 tonnes of plastic material and an energy reduction of approximately 50% without losing downstream performance."
Finally this latest development resulted even in a performance, better than all heavier versions in the market place. The tamper evidence band is torn off completely before any leakage at the bottle neck can be observed. "We call this BTL Break-Then-Leak," added Romeo Corvaglia, "the opening is extremely simple and easy also for children and elderly people."
