In a first step in 1991, Romeo Corvaglia, the owner of Corvaglia Group, developed plastic closures and an injection mold for their manufacture. It is based on a modular system that greatly facilitates maintenance and repairs. When new closures are developed, the same principle is applied in manufacturing.
In a second step, he launched the production of his proprietary-design injection molds: In 1996 he joined Swiss mold designer Kellenberg AG. He aqucires the company in 1998 and renamed it Corvaglia AG. By 2001, a mere 10 years later, one out of every 10 PET bottle closures worldwide was already being produced with a Corvaglia mold.
In a third step, he began to produce closures in-house. Romeo Corvaglia comments: "We grow together with our customers." In 2004, the first Corvaglia cap manufacturing plant in Mexico was opened, and since mid-2005, a new facility in Eschlikon, Switzerland, has been manufacturing plastic closures for the European market. The locations where selected primarily because they were close to the targeted beverage markets.
